I'm happy to share a fresh review for this AJ's location. I visited last week for brunch and enjoyed a delicious meal of ham, yams, and green beans. I dined on the outdoor patio and absolutely loved the weather.

We came for the iced tea…
After getting our number and waiting for the team behind the counter to figure out a bakery order, they skipped our number and the 4 people after us! The tea was delicious when we finally got it, but would it be so hard to have a dedicated beverage counter?

DO NOT order the beef Wellington! The cooking times are COMPLETELY inaccurate. Instructions tell you to heat up for 35 minutes, however the cooking time is more like 1.5 hrs. The scalloped potatoes were hard after also the 35 minutes recommended and the green beans were AWFUL. There was NO seasoning other than a chunk of butter on top. I could have done better by emptying cn beans to a plate. The worst $290 spent.

This review is solely based on the floral department. We ran in to grab some flowers and the lady (Lisa Davis) that worked there was so incredibly friendly and helpful. She ended up putting together a bouquet within our price range. Thanks Lisa!! You put a smile on our face and your kindness meant more than I will ever be able to express.

I’ve always loved AJ’s, but unfortunately, this location leaves much to be desired. The staff here consistently seems disgruntled. It’s hard not to notice cashiers openly complaining about their hours or coworkers calling out sick, leaving them with too much responsibility. It’s unprofessional to vent like this in front of customers.

Managers, if this is a recurring issue (and it seems like it is, given how frequently it’s discussed), please address it. The deli staff also often looks frustrated or unhappy, which only adds to the uncomfortable atmosphere.

While I haven’t visited the bakery, the overall vibe here is a major turnoff, and it’s a shame because AJ’s is usually such a great experience.

I would've given 5 stars if it wasn't for the very rude and sarcastic clerk at the checkout. Signs posted for Utah Yellow Peaches at $.99/lb outside the store and in the produce section. Instead, the peaches rang up at $2.99/lb, the regular price.

Anyway, the comment that bothered me the most was, "You can look at the screen all you want, it's not going to change." I'm Diné (Navajo), but I'm not stupid. When I asked for a refund the clerk seemed even to be upset with that. So he calls for a manager. When the manager arrives, he says, the clerk, "Everyone is getting mad at me because of this." I told him, I didn't get mad. I'm not everyone.

Anyway, the manager did come and he gave me a refund of the difference. I appreciate the manner in which he handled the situation. I don't want the man to lose his job but AJ's has a reputation to protect and uphold. I'll still come back. Besides, I usually go to the Central location. This was just on my way home and I didn't want to take the time for the detour.

One more thing, this store did take me back to the AJ's of old on Central. This store has the wood fired pizza oven and I could smell the scent of the wood used. Good memories.

Wow.
My friends and I walk into our local AJ’s, a place we frequent to get tea and an occasional bagel. Now I understand that this location being in the heart of Arcadia is busy. But that doesn’t excuse the behavior from employees.
My friends and I patiently wait in line and as we’re called up to order by the disgruntled staff we politely let the employee know we’re all ordering together, so it’ll be a decent amount of bagels and teas. My friend asks for the everything bagel to which the employee rudely retorts that they didn’t have any. My friend inquires the bagel she sees in the window asking if it’s an everything bagel, the employee lets out a huge sigh and says “oh look i guess we do have one”. Then I order a bagel and ask if she has any asiago (i saw one in the window but figured i’d ask). the employee again sighs and says she doesn’t have any. I point to the asiago bagel i see in the window and ask for it POLITELY. she says it’s a jalapeño cheddar (there’s literally no jalapeños on it and seeing as i ended up eating the bagel i can 100% say with confidence it was indeed asiago, not jalapeño.) i say that’s fine and ask if i may have it. before my other friend orders the employee says “is that it!” i tell her no that we have one last order and she sighs again. My friend orders and halfway through her talking the employee says something to her coworker to which my friend says “oh i’m sorry what was that?” figuring the employee was talking to her as she was in the middle of ORDERING. the employee says “I wasn’t talking to you” with a rude tone. Whatever. We pay. We walk over to the side and wait for our order. As we wait for our order we see the same employee eating whilst steaming milk for coffee, dripping crumbs into the drink. She jokes and laughs with her coworker with a full mouth of food. Look, everyone needs to eat, I understand. But eating over the espresso machine while you’re making drinks licking your fingers as you shove a bagel into your mouth? Idk it rubbed me the wrong way. Hopefully your employer gives you enough time to eat on your breaks. After waiting what felt forever for our order we find we’re one drink short. We tried to politely call over the same employee who slammed out drinks on the counter and immediately walked away to ask if she was making the other drink and she erupts into laughter saying “OHHH yeah you did have another drink huh. That’s crazy” ? HELLO ARE YOU HIGH No ‘omg i’m so sorry i’ll get that right now, thanks for your patience’ nothing. She stands there awkwardly without saying anything as i remind her what the drink was in hopes she would turn around and make it. The employee stands there…waits…then makes my drink all while laughing to her coworkers about it as soon as she turns around.

I’m almost certain this employee (dark haired girl with very tinted glasses) is overworked or high. Whatever it is, this location needs to get their stuff together. Holy cow.

Went to order something for breakfast off the menu this morning, and instead of making it they pointed over to the pre priced breakfast items. When I went to look, there was nothing I described that they had on their menu (vegetarian option- breakfast sandwich). As opposed to making the item they have on the menu, they just said sorry we don’t have it today despite having the ingredients right in front of me. Maybe I read it wrong but I don’t quite understand having a menu and not offering what’s on said menu.
