I’ve used C&J in the past multiple times and overall my experiences have been acceptable until now. I ordered 15 lbs of beef top round sliced in ¼” slices to make jerky for an upcoming back country trip. I was told the price was in the mid $5 range per pound ($5.73 I believe but can’t remember exactly) and it would be somewhere “around $80-$100.” When I arrived to pick up my order it was $124.80. I was on my way home and did some math and realized that seemed far off. I called and explained my concerns and was told that I was misquoted and they forgot to call me back. I accepted this, mistakes happen. Then the gentleman I spoke with explained that it was $1 per lb for slicing (I called for a quote last week and was given the same mid $5 price and was told slicing was included in that, but that’s besides the point here) The gentleman further explained that it was $7.80 per lean pound sliced and they had thrown away 6 lbs of waste to fill my order lean. When I got home I could see piles of fat in each bag and I had to trim 12 ounces off of the first 3 lb bag I opened. This was disappointing but still not the peak of my let down. I requested ¼” slices specifically so they would survive the marinading and drying process but the slices I received were 1/16” at best while most were nearly deli meat thin. Totally unusable for my purposes. After weighing all meat and trimmings it totaled almost exactly 14 lbs with the bags included and I was charged for 16 lbs. I’m sure scales can vary but I don't think theres a 2 lb difference between theirs and mine. In the end I was overcharged drastically for nothing close to what I asked for. Mistakes happen but after this many in one bite I cannot recommend them to anyone. There are others in town who may charge slightly more per lb but have always gotten me what I asked for and were up front and clear about what I’d pay for it.

These guys are amazing! High quality bags, great customer service, and fair prices. We are used to packaging in Seward where the processors are accustomed to high fish demands. C&J Tender Meats was just as good but in Anchorage where we live now. We will bring our dip net fish here every year for vacuum sealing.

C & J‘s entire staff has been taking care of our restaurant for years. Supplying quality product and excellent customer service that many folks in Anchorage unknowingly benefit from. Truly wonderful people who have never let us down. Truly a top notch company, and I couldn’t recommend a better supplier or purveyor of meats in the city.

Best place ever!!!! I cannot believe I'm only getting to know them now, nicest staff with the kindest people. They have helped me with my packaging so quickly and apparently they sell all kinds of exotic meats!!! I got a few for a great price. Thank you again, it's been a pleasure!
