They tried to tell me to check in my personal bag which is not legal ( only other shopping bags, but not personal bags) . Since I had an experience when I did check in a bag at another grocery, then it was “misplaced” by another grocery store and never recovered, I don’t do it. Meanwhile, there were 5 other people who had on their backpacks and was not asked to check them in( discrimination). When I stood my ground because I’m not a pushover, he told me the one of the guys in the front would have to follow me while I shopped ( it didn’t happen),but messed up to say to a new customer.

It’s unfortunate because this completely eclipses the nice layout, and the gentleman who checked me out was very kind and fast.

If there’s anything to take away from this, go to SUPER FOOD TOWN. Bigger, better pricing and you don’t have to deal with being harassed about checking in your bag which is done in a discriminatory way.

There are many issues with this market. Shoppers are forced to check in their bags at the door. You have to deal with a few untrained and unprofessional workers who are unfocused. They act as if they are doing you a favor when you ask for their help. They are not alert. In the manager’s office a child was seen looking out of the window. Is there a daycare center there? On a few occasions, I’ve purchased items that expired well before the expiration date.Someone can get sick. Food poisoning!!!! I was able to get a refund on a spoiled meat item but was met with extreme opposition when returning yet another foul smelling meat item. The night manager was a disgrace and very insulting. He refused to exchange the item or a refund my money. He humiliated me. Why does the owner allow this behavior to continue? Selling meat that goes bad well before the expiration date is an unsafe practice. The place is run like a social club with cashiers on their phones and a few having side bars as you try to check out. Where are you finding these workers? On many occasions I’ve noticed the price tag on the product doesn’t translate at the register. I’ve been met with derision and smirks. Are background checks done on these characters? Are these workers being vetted? I know customers that have complained about being talked about in Spanish at the register. Are these cashiers so incompetent and ignorant to the fact that Non-Hispanics/Non-Latinos speak Spanish also? What these workers fail to understand is that they need to do their job and discontinue fraternizing. How about their profiling of black community members who are treated as perps when they enter the store? Or their disdain for anyone other than Latino? Shame on you!

This store is frustrating beyond belief.the aisles are so narrow that two people can’t fit. Then the staff take up half of each entire aisle stocking constantly to the point that no one can access the groceries.looking for another full grocery store that doesn’t operate this way. I shopped there tonight in a pinch and grabbed two packages of cheddar cheese and two hard and soft taco kits. When I got home I found that there were different items behind the first that must be harder to sell . Instead of shredded cheddar I got queso de papa which tastes terrible to me and just hard and soft taco shells ONLY instead of the kit. ?I am going to find a better grocery

I was told to step over ladder + crates myself, to get to pick some produce. The staff + manager refused to move anything in my way. Instead, they said I should move it out of my way myself! So, to shop there I should lean way over their ladder + crate to reach fruits/vegetables, or move everything blocking the area risk? Risk my health, balance + safety so they can laugh (at my request) + continue their socialiazing with eachother? I left, + never returned. Manager: rude, abusive, probly misogonist too, in my opinio, for his disrespecting an elderly lady trying to shop? Forget Metro Acres! I, also, would give it a ZERO!

Bought some chicken, came home to cook it and it smelled like it spoiled days ago. Bought red meat that was black on the inside. This supermarket stays open because passing these items off as food in poor neighborhoods is acceptable. If this was the upper east side, they would of been shut down within a month.

Part of an over-priced chain (Metro Acres and Fine Fare a few blocks away are sister companies - to the point that for years the Metro Acres receipts printed put as Fine Fare) that treats ALL customers like criminals. Refused to let me do cash back on a debit purchase...because they were more interested in socializing
/fraternizing.

Bought chicken that stank like rotting meat as soon as I took out of the package the next day. Bought butter that was moldy the same day I bought it. And their stuff is crazy overpriced, even for manhattan.

I wish i could leave a 0, i always have to correct them when buying sales items because they do not update the price in the system. i feel sorry for the elderly that go in there and do not realize they are being over charged. and when you tell them about it they get upset like if its your fault! They prices are ridiculous and i wish they would go away. nevermind the produce, most of the time it is rotten!! do better metro!!!! everyone that lives downton is not rich!!
