We truly enjoyed our fine dining experience at Prime & Pint tonight. Service was excellent, all our meals ranging from steak to seafood were spectacular and desserts were also delicious.
The atmosphere is open, modern, industrial with dark beams and concrete floors. We love eating in an upscale butcher shop. This establishment is a meat lovers dream.
We did notice the noise level in the packed restaurant with a lot of hard surfaces was a bit high but we were able to chat without much effort.

We had a disappointing experience at Prime and Point and won’t be returning.

The food was subpar across the board. The wedge salad was tiny and nowhere near enough for the two people the server assured us it would serve. The shrimp and grits were a disaster—bland, with grits so tough I needed a knife to cut through them, and the shrimp were undercooked and translucent. The gnocchi dish was also a letdown, with scallops sliced so thin it felt like they were cutting corners just to get a dish out. Everything felt rushed and uninspired.

The drinks didn’t fare much better. The beer was flat, and the Old Fashioned tasted like it came straight from a premade mix—not fresh or worth the price.

Service was just as disappointing. Our waiter seemed annoyed that we didn’t order pricey add-ons or dessert and spent most of his time chatting with a friend at a nearby table. At one point, he leaned over to talk to them and his backside was practically in my husband’s face—completely unprofessional.

Overall, the experience felt overpriced and unworthy of the hype. We expected much more and left thoroughly unimpressed.

Update:
I gave the restaurant another shot 6 months later with my wife and some friends and I’m happy to say that things were much improved over my last visit. I ordered the same steak and it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Service was a little slow but the food was definitely worth it and it’s easily the nicest place in Columbia. Updated pics posted below.

Original post: Had high expectations especially given the lack of fine dining and high prices in the area but walked away disappointed despite how much I wanted to like it.

The good: The sides were phenomenal. Like the white cheddar Mac and cheese was some of best I’ve had. Truffle fries were good. Good friendly server and atmosphere. I’d return for lunch but would skip dinner.

The bad: Asked for a filet cooked medium and the picture below was the kitchens attempt to refire the same piece of steak a THIRD time. Steaks get undercooked all the time and the first time is not a big deal but how poorly it was handled from a customer service was disappointing. They finally got it right but never offered me a fresh steak just kept cooking same piece. I asked for the burger instead and was told the best they could do was offer me 50% off the same steak they were trying to get right.

For a good butcher shop and steakhouse, it’s disappointing to see these basic mistakes in steak temp and customer service and how they will affect repeat business. I want this place to do well.

I have been to Prime & Pint a few times now and have been very happy with each visit.

Our latest visit was for our company Christmas party, shameless plug, Tillis Jewelry! We had a group of 15 with a reservation for 2:45pm. We were a little early and they were not quite ready for us so we had time to check out the well-stocked butcher shop and freezer cases with a lot of great take home options.

We were seated within 10 minutes; we had pre-ordered Apps, and they hit the table not long after we were seated. Apps were shrimp cocktail, Charcuterie boards and Truffle Fries. Do yourself a favor, try them all.

The food order was taken right after the drink order which the cocktails were great. I recommend the Old Fashioned.

We had a wide range of food ordered. Some had the Prime Burger, Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and steaks. Ribeye, Filets I think were the only steaks ordered. I had a filet and it was perfectly cooked, medium rare, and the portion was just right for me. They brought complimentary Diane Sauce? I never put anything on my steak, but that sauce was amazing.

Columbia Tennessee is fortunate to have a steak house of this caliber. I have been to some pretty fantastic steak houses over the years and Prime & Pint holds up to most of them. The staff and Chef know what they are doing.

Everything from the handcrafted charcuterie board with their own meats and cheeses, to the ribeye steak, Prime burger and fresh catch Mahi-Mahi was amazing! Service and management were top notch. Restrooms were clean. Drinks were on point. What a fantastic evening with friends 🧡 & Can't wait to come back soon--thanks!
Update: We came back for Sunday brunch and it was fantastic!! Highly recommend 👌

We came to Prime and Pint to celebrate my husband's birthday.

Started off with house foccia (served with honey butter) and the off menu beef tartar. Both were delicious! We did add a bit of fleur de sel sea salt to the tartar. It was a different preparation than what we expected but it was good regardless.

On to the entrees. He had a boneless ribeye, I had a filet. Both were seasoned and cooked perfectly (medium rare for us both). Roasted potatoes....well you get like 5-6 small pieces of roasted spuds. They were okay. Steaks were delicious! We got sides of creamy grits (highly recommend!!!) and their Mac n cheese (also highly recommend!!)! Perfect choices to go with our steaks.

We brought in our own bottle of wine from our personal wine collection. $15 corkage fee.....totally worth it!

We were too full from dinner to order desserts but the offerings looked yummy!

We will definitely return! Our server, Adam S., was the best! When we asked where the grits were from, he went and asked the chef! He was very knowledgeable about each and every thing on the menu! Great service! Looking forward to our next dinner out at Prime and Pint!

I've been wanting to try this place since I first heard of them opening. I popped my head in during the last First Fridays and they were packed! The air was filled with an aroma that can only come from an experienced kitchen. I promised myself I would be back soon. Today ended up being that day. Without a plan, my Mom and I were exploring parts of Columbia we hadn't yet touched and next thing we know, I was guiding us to a delicious lunch experience. I was thankful for a less busy, early afternoon. Inside, it was a nice and cool escape from the Tennessee heat. Our server, Mikayla was awesome. She knew the menu well and made some great suggestions. I originally planned to try and stick to my keto meal plan, but that was quickly erased as soon as a plate of deliciousness was set in front of me. You gotta live a little, right?!

They have a massive selection of alcohol. Spirits, beer on tap, cocktails and wine. I realized what kind of place I was at when I realized they carry two of my favorite wines...Caymus & Silver Oak - both Napa Valley wines. The restaurant decor is simple, yet elegant. It's a great location for groups or a date night. I highly recommend and will definitely be back soon!

(6 Months Later)

My second time visiting. It's even better than I remembered, making me want to visit again, sooner, rather than later! It was a late, Saturday evening and a good "2nd Spring" Fall rain, filled the air. I called the restaurant for a reservation for two, ten minutes prior to my arrival. A friendly voice quickly answered my call and she granted my request. Thankfully, we arrived just 8mins later with the perfect parking spot, up front. We walked in and our table was promptly prepared and available for our dinner VIP experience. Our server, Hannah was awesome too. She knew the menu well and sold me on their specials. Our food was amazing, our service was even better. The cocktails were prepared with obvious expertise. This isn't like your typical restaurant or bar. Think, Nashville service, Franklin class, combined with Columbia, small town southern hospitality. It's an experience that’s worth every penny.

We went to Prime and Pint for the second time this Saturday. It was very busy as it was Valentine’s Weekend. Our server was either overwhelmed with tables or on something because he was not attentive. Didn’t refill our water and I had to go to the bar and order my own cocktail. I did the Valentine special dinner and my salmon was raw. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, and will try it again. But the service was below par. Every table around us came in after us and all received their food, ate, and left before we did. It definitely put a damper on our night. The bill was $315 with a tip.
