This is a small shop for a butcher, meaning they aren't breaking down whole sides into the various cuts. Instead they buy 'rolls' and break them down into (mostly) chops or steaks. On the upside they do dry age a lot of what they sell and the 7-day dry aged strip is one of the best I've had. It sported a distinct nutty flavor with no stink and decent marbling. Their removal of the rind was also particularly well done. The only downsides were that the don't make their own hotdogs, instead grinding their scraps into ground, and their CC machine asks if you want to tip. I don't mind tipping, but butchering is a skill and a craft which should be paid well enough to not need tips.

As if this upscale butcher and specialty food & wine shop wasn’t already amazing enough; Aubrey and Harrison shared their vision of increasing their inventory with what they learn their customers want! Coming up from a sunset, and being met by a store that is ready with all of those wonderful options and helpful people…..what a dream dinner waiting to happen! Thank you for opening this great shop… you guys are the type of local owners for which I could only have hoped to have in our community!

Dude - finally an enlightened butcher shop on 30A! It’s actually much more than that - beyond the fine cuts of meat, you’ll find vegetables, wines, breads, oils, cheeses. Perfect for an awesome dinner- you can get everything you need to make a 5-star dinner at home.

I do not recommend buying wine or cheese from this place. We were suggested a “sweet red wine” by the lady working that would be a good drinking wine with cheese, but we were sold what I think was a bad oxidized wine. The wine was extremely vinegary and acidic and not sweet at all. I genuinely think it was a wine that had gone bad. The Comte cheese we purchased did not taste right either.

Not only that, but when I brought it back in to see what they could do, she then claimed it was supposed to taste like that and I was told since the bottle was opened they couldn’t refund or replace but only discount a new bottle purchase. The guy working said it tasted like something his uncle would make at home…

Meat selection looked really good though, I would just maybe stick to their butcher and meat selections instead.

Finally, a local butcher shop in SoWal! Had a lovely first time shopping experience at The Salty Butcher, picking up quite a few prime cuts of meat including duck prosciutto, wagyu A5 strip & Mishima Reserve wagyu flat iron. They also have a very well curated shop of provisions sourced from local & small-batch purveyors!

This is not a "butcher shop". Not even close. If you want a cut steak, maybe, but a rib roast, they are clueless. Prices are stupid high as well. We will never return to this shop.

Words cannot describe how phenomenal this butcher shop is. The variety and quality of the meats and provisions is unmatched in the area and better than most cities I frequent. I couldn’t be more impressed by the curated wine selection as well. This is a must visit for all your meat centered meals. If you are a chef you can meander around the shop and just be inspired by the cornucopia of offerings. Also, it is very exciting to finally be able to purchase the best bacon and country ham in the business: Benton’s! Love love love this butcher shop and I plan of shopping here weekly.
