I should have walked out the door but I was so shocked to be asked to cover my arms that I complied. I regret that I didn’t walk out the door. The young lady serving us was obviously uncomfortable having to ask that we cover up. She didn’t say anything about it until the owner skulked in behind her and said they couldn’t serve us unless I covered my shoulders and my friend covered her legs. She had on dress shorts about 2” above her knees and I had on a dress blouse with no sleeves. They said nothing to the men about showing their knees.
I find it interesting that most of the reviews are extremely high or low. No middle ground. I wonder how many of the 5 stars are given by their cult members. I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this establishment. Go to Big Spoon instead.

A fascinating delicious place for coffee, gelato, sandwiches and more! Their sprawling campus features a number of different tasting, visual and community experiences. They have been adding more farm-to-table products including farm raised meats so check back often.

Please note the dress code is modest (like the Vatican) and they also have a "no phones" policy which makes this a little getaway without having to travel.

Absolutely incredible coffee/gelato and very nice staff. I pity the people who reviewed without actually trying it as this was hands down the best gelato I’ve ever had (they also have dairy free sorbet options too). I respected their beliefs (dress code + phone policy), they were very friendly/respectful, and I received a great product.

Wow. What an interesting experience. Coffee, gelato, sandwiches, antipasto. Wonderful little sitting areas both inside and outside. They have frozen cuts of heritage Myers available as well. Highly recommend a stop. I recommend the pistachio gelato. Just get the 6oz it is enough for two people.

This is the most amazing Italian eatery I have ever seen. They have their own roaster where coffee beans are shipped from around the world.

The buildings along with all of their fine food and beverages has been carefully thought out. Everything from the latte, to the Gelato and authentic handcrafted Italian sandwiches is unmatched in comparison to any other coffee shop/ cafe.

Whether you want a cup of coffee, or hanging out in a peaceful surroundings with family and friends you do NOT want to miss put on this delightful coffee shop.

God bless the owner and employees for giving Birmingham a rare find in a hectic world.

I clearly didn't have correct attire, which is fine, I disrespect ed their rules. I did try two samples before the woman put a stop to it. My daughter and her boyfriend stayed. I went for the sour cherry (needs more cherry) the red ? is outta this world as is the pistachio. I know it's difficult to have all extremities covered when it's 97f, but that is their policy and they have a beautiful shaded hill side with tables to enjoy. The price for Gelato is what it is. I haven't found anything cheaper or better.

Best gelato I've ever had! That is saying something as we lived in Europe for 3 years in 2011-2014 and have been back twice since then. Villaggio Colafrancesco is a beautiful place, too, that is one of a kind, sadly, in the US. First there is the family atmosphere that values modest dress and no technology - just good, clean living. The grounds are beautiful as are the buildings, too. That leads to my second point. I am a diet nut due to being pre-diabetic. I haven't found anywhere that offers the healthy options that Villaggio Colafrancesco offers: free-range meats (cow, chicken, pork, turkey), A2 raw milk/cheeses/yogurt, free range eggs, true pure Italian olive oil. Whenever we are in Birmingham we make it a point to visit.
